Over the last few months Heron Assess has welcomed on board three new staff members
to expand our training support services to the Geelong Region. We have recently increased
our industry affiliations by registering membership to VELG Training and staff are taking
advantage of attending professional development workshops offered by this well known
VET industry educator for practitioners. Heron Assess is one of five founding members of
a newly established Geelong regional VET industry network which has met five times in
2011 and will be offering membership to any Geelong based RTOs and Training consultants
in 2012. This is an exciting and beneficial network where VET industry matters can be
discussed and Professional development workshops are offered to all its members.

Heron Assess managers attended the Service Skills Australia(SSA) Phase Two Hospitality
Review in late November to discuss, analyse and submit feedback to SSA regarding the
proposed changes to the Hospitality Training Package. This session in Melbourne was
attended by approximately 80 VET representatives and was a very beneficial forum for
industry to contribute to the new Training Package which is expected to be endorsed mid to
late 2012.

December has been focussed on finalising training for the 2011 training year surveying client
satisfaction, reviewing processes and quality management systems for the current year and
preparation for continuing our quality training in Hospitality to the Geelong and Melbourne
region.

Heron Assess staff wish all students, Employers, and Apprenticeship Centres a Happy and
safe Christmas and New Year and we are looking forward to offering our quality training
services in 2012.
